Our Annual Shades Day event aims to bring attention to sickle cell disease, increase sickle cell awareness, and show support for sickle cell patients who suffer from a rare symptom of the condition called sickle cell retinopathy which affects the small blood vessels in the eyes.
Sickle cell disease is the most inherited blood disorder on the globe. Sickle cell retinopathy is a symptom of the disease that causes dark spots in the vision of those who live with the disease. Shades Day is an opportunity to bring awareness to sickle cell disease and its symptoms. Shades Day also shows support and encouragement for those who live with the condition on a daily basis.
Shades Day will take place on Friday, September 29, 2017. You can show your support for the sickle cell community by posting a picture with your favorite shades on and tagging friends so that they can do the same. When you participate, you get to show off your style and encourage millions of people around the globe at the same time. Join us as we spread awareness and "Look Cool For A Cause."
